National Taiwan University Department of Public Health Service Team has lasted for 47 years held by students in the Department of Public Health. Under the teacher’s instruction, students provide the public health service in the remote area in Taiwan. This year the service team was instructed by Dr. Nien-Chen Kuo and implemented the service in Annan District, Tainan City from June 23rd to 29th.
There were three groups in the service team. The group of health education held the education camp in Sian Gong Elementary School, delivering the health concept in three days. The topic of lectures included environmental health, gender education, and food safety; The group of environmental investigation cleaned the trash, finding and helping remove the source of mosquitoes in the field. Besides, they collected both household drinking water and a water sample from Luermen River and conducted the experiment to evaluate the quality of the water used by local people; As for the group of community health promotion, they focused on the topic of elderly depression and senescence. Therefore, they cooperated with the chief of Siangong Village, Nansing Village, Shalun Village to hold lectures and do the household survey, aiming to understand the elderly. Students are now analyzing the valuable data collected during these seven days.
Students put a lot of efforts for a half year to the preparation, hoping to provide certain assistance to Annan District. We appreciate the help and instruction given from the Annan District Public Health Center, teachers, and the residents. We believe students have learned the public health practice and will pass on the core value of health promotion to future generations.

The group of environmental investigation investigated the standing water in containers and collected es. Students made the mosquitoes’ specimen and sent to Sian Gong Elementary School as teaching materials.
The group of health education held a 3-day health education camp in Sian Gong Elementary School, and let children know the health issue through lectures and games.

Before leaving Tainan, the service team went to the Taiwan Blackfoot Disease Socio-Medical Service Memorial House to understand the origin and development of public health in Taiwan, which inspired students’deep think and reflection, and at the same time closed the 47th Public Health Service Team.
